Director, Continuous Improvement -- Mid-Atlantic

THE COMPANY

Our client is a leading provider of outpatient healthcare garment and linen rental services.

THE POSITION

The Director of Continuous Improvement will lead the enterprise-wide continuous improvement strategy to drive documented savings, enable sustainable operational improvements and build a culture of structured problem-solving. The selected candidate will be a key strategic leader, work intimately with a remote team of Continuous Improvement Managers across multiple facilities and serve as a hands-on facilitator, educator and coach, ensuring the alignment of continuous improvement efforts focused on company goals and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with leadership across plant operations, service, sales, finance, HR and marketing to ensure alignment of continuous improvement / Lean initiatives with strategic objectives.
  • Drive strategic CI initiatives across five branch production facilities and eight satellite locations.
  • Manage a portfolio of CI projects, balancing quick-win initiatives with longer-term transformation efforts.
  • Partner closely with General Managers to influence change and drive results without direct authority. Lead and develop a team of CI Managers, ensuring alignment and effectiveness across all locations. CI Managers have a direct reporting relationship to the General Manager.
  • Engage with front-line leadership to embed CI into daily operations.
  • Establish and manage key performance indicators, including financial impact metrics to achieve cost savings.
  • Standardize and promote a practical CI approach that creates a cohesive, structured approach across the enterprise.

COMPENSATION RANGE
$130,000 -- $154,000

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management or related field; MBA a plus.
  • Twelve-plus years of progressive experience in process engineering, CI / Lean or operations leadership with at least five years leading CI in a fast-paced manufacturing, logistics and/or service-based business.
  • Deep understanding of Lean principles, DAMAIC and structured problem-solving; and a firm grasp of the tools, including process mapping, SMED, error-proofing and visual management systems.
  • Advanced facilitation skills with proven success leading kaizen events and team-based improvement initiatives.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching and influencing skills with the ability to drive change across multiple sites, functions and organizational levels.
