THE POSITION
The Director of Continuous Improvement will be responsible for developing and advancing its Continuous Improvement model. The selected candidate will create a system that provides the tools and resources to shape strategy, focus execution and create value for customers and employees across a five-site fabrication business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define the Continuous Improvement model direction, focus and priorities.
- Create, enhance and teach the systematic approach to driving sustainable results.
- Lead a 5–10-person Continuous Improvement team.
- Develop a corporate CI roadmap and ensure each plant’s CI leader has a defined one.
- Actively train and coach to support the CI Enterprise operating model.
- Benchmark with other companies to identify best practices in operating model design, implementation and execution; and promote these best practices throughout the enterprise.
- Enhance the organization’s Lean skills, including training, coaching and development opportunities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering or a closely related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Twelve-plus years of experience leading Continuous Improvement projects, teams and/or initiatives with at least five years applying, facilitating, coaching and teaching Lean methodologies in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing business.
- A background that includes fabrication or made-to-order products is preferred.
- Hands-on experience implementing Lean business systems in both mature and newly launched settings.
- Skilled in teaching improvement concepts and principles to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional consulting skills, especially in situations requiring persuading, negotiating, resolving conflict and advising.
- Ability to accurately assess business and set priorities for improvement that promote mission and strategic initiatives while building consensus.
- Reacts well under pressure and treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.
