Director, Continuous Improvement -- Midwest

THE POSITION

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Continuous Improvement leader with experience leading and supporting Lean transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be passionate about driving continuous improvement, optimizing processes and fostering a culture of efficiency and innovation within the organization. As a key member of the team, you’ll play a pivotal role in identifying areas for improvement, implementing Lean methodologies and driving sustainable change to enhance operational effectiveness and drive business growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in the development and deployment of the company’s business system.
  • Leads improvement initiatives in every department of the organization, not just out on the production floor.
  • Facilitates, trains, mentors and coaches team members and team leaders in the use of CI tools (Standard Work, Visual Controls, Poka Yoke -mistake proofing, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Gemba Walks, Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping, etc.) to drive improvements and build employee engagement.
  • Identifies potential CI projects whenever and wherever possible.
  • Uses PDCA to track, monitor and report on Kaizen event status at 30/60/90 days mark; monitors process improvement milestones to ensure on-time completion and sustainability.
  • Establishes and monitors 5S, Leader Standard Work and Hr. x Hr. boards for compliance to standards and effective utilization.
  • Monitors existing and new processes for improvement opportunities in safety, quality, delivery and cost through Lean problem-solving methodology.
  • Provides business analysis, change management and project management in support of corporate initiatives.
  • Serves as a change facilitator and influences department leaders in the transformation to and/or in support of a continuous improvement culture.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, operations management or a related field.
  • Five to 10 years of experience as a Lean practitioner with demonstrated evidence of sustained, successful Lean activities within specific value streams.
  • Experience not only executing tactical improvement work, but also shaping the strategic priorities and direction of a Lean program.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
