Director, Logistics -- Northeast

THE POSITION

The Director of Logistics will take the helm of managing and optimizing the supply chain and logistics operations for the company. The role is responsible for overseeing the movement of goods; daily interaction with the 3PL logistics provider; coordinating with suppliers; managing inventory; and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers. The Director will also be accountable for streamlining processes, improving efficiency and implementing best practices in logistics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement the logistics strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective coordination and integration of logistics activities.
  • Manage transportation and distribution activities to ensure on-time and accurate delivery of products.
  • Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders and customs agents to facilitate smooth movement of goods.
  • Implement logistics technology solutions to enhance visibility and efficiency in operations.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations and regularly monitor performance against targets.
  • Generate reports and provide analysis to senior management to evaluate logistics performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team. Provide guidance, training and coaching to team members.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the Logistics department.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or a related field.
  • Proven experience (typically eight-plus years) in logistics and supply chain management, preferably in the consumer products industry with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing complex logistics operations and driving process improvements.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in using supply chain and logistics software and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles, practices and industry trends. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and customs regulations related to international trade.
