THE POSITION
The Director of Manufacturing leads all aspects of a multi-site fabrication business, with an early emphasis on five key locations, ensuring fabrication, equipment rental and distribution operations are productive, efficient and safe and meet internal and external customer expectations. The selected candidate will be responsible for plant operations, including safety, on-time delivery, cost control, people development and miscellaneous administrative functions to drive a best-in-class operation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Gain an understanding and awareness of company products and processes to internalize organizational strategies and subsequently execute a “lead from the front” management approach to achieve high employee engagement.
- Develop annual facilities objectives via KPIs and then conduct routine follow-up meetings for objective calibration to ensure full support for the Facility Team; conduct quarterly status check-ins of yearly objectives.
- Drive the Lean culture change.
- Champion daily management (SQDP), data collection and data-driven decision making at the sites.
- Drive and review the development/implementation of the annual Kaizen event.
- Provide strong hands-on leadership to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance by directly managing multi-site, multi-department plants in Fabrication, Equipment Rental and Distribution areas to meet customer requirements per site.
- Serve as a representative and steward of its mission statement and core values to cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace culture that motivates and engages employees at all levels.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering or a closely related field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Fifteen-plus years of experience leading and mentoring large teams across manufacturing / warehouse / distribution in a multi-site, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- A background that includes fabrication is preferred.
- An engaged, working leader who can balance day-to-day organizational focus with strategic initiatives.
- Proven problem-solving, planning and execution, including situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Proven successful application of Lean and CI tools and principles, including training through a reputable source.
- Ability to lead, empower and influence cross-functional teams while setting high standards.
- Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality principles is preferred.
- Proficiency and experience with ERP systems.
