Director, Operations & Supply Chain -- Midwest

Our client is a medical device manufacturer.

THE POSITION

The Director will lead optimizing manufacturing and supply chain operations across Asia, Europe and North America. In this high-impact role, you’ll drive site leadership, accountability and continuous improvement to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, throughput and on-time delivery – all while strategically managing costs, inventories and lead times. You'll spearhead cross-functional initiatives, including product transfers, operational enhancements, capacity planning and business development opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and manage meaningful, measurable KPIs aligned with the Medical business strategy, focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Drive manufacturing cost reduction, improve plant variances and implement Lean manufacturing strategies, including extended value stream transformation.
  • Develop and apply Lean tools such as Standardized Work, 5S, Visual Management and Material Replenishment to enhance efficiency.
  • Lead major production transfers, footprint expansions and inter-regional manufacturing transitions to ensure smooth execution.
  • Strengthen new product launch processes and proactively address implementation risks.
  • Oversee inventory management, budgetary processes and cap-ex investments to ensure manufacturing readiness.
  • Lead, develop and mentor teams to foster a culture of trust, empowerment and high performance.
  • Partner with global stakeholders to enhance raw material supply, optimize SIOP execution and drive operational improvements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through Kaizen initiatives, cross-functional collaboration and consultative relationships.
  • Develop a Lean mindset at all levels through coaching, mentoring and fostering a network of improvement experts.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, engineering or supply chain management from an accredited university.
  • At least five years of experience leading production operations teams, ideally with supply chain oversite.
  • At least 10 years of experience that includes leading Lean transformations. This should include hands-on experience using Value Stream Mapping, TPM, A3 Problem Solving, Kaizen, Hoshin Kanri and other critical tools and concepts.
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
