Our client is a glass manufacturer.
THE POSITION
Our client is seeking a hands-on, experienced Plant Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of its manufacturing facility. This individual will be responsible for managing production, administration, shipping and quality, ensuring optimal performance in alignment with company standards and goals. The successful candidate will act as the site leader, strengthening a high-performing team culture built on accountability, process discipline and customer service excellence. They will be key in maintaining the reputation for short-cycle lead times, technical expertise, quality and responsive service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure on-time delivery, throughput targets and quality per specifications are consistently met.
- Monitor and react to system or mechanical issues, collaborating with internal engineering and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
- Coordinate and schedule production to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
- Lead, coach and mentor a cross-functional team including Production, Admin, Quality and Shipping personnel.
- Promote a positive workplace culture rooted in accountability, operational excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance check-ins and ensure alignment with individual and team targets.
- Collaborate and coordinate regularly with teams based at headquarters to uphold service and delivery expectations.
- Manage purchasing needs for the facility, ensuring materials and components are available to support uninterrupted production, working closely with corporate Procurement team.
- Ensure all products meet company quality standards and customer specifications.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Five-plus years in operations or plant management within a manufacturing environment.
- Technical background or familiarity with mechanical / electrical systems; engineering experience is an asset.
- Lean manufacturing experience.
- Proven leadership experience in managing teams and building strong workplace culture.
- Glass fabrication experience is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Working knowledge of production planning, quality systems and purchasing functions.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently with support from report leadership.
