Plant Manager -- Mid-South

THE POSITION

The Plant Manager will manage and direct all aspects of plant operations for a high-growth site with multiple buildings. This person will be responsible for plant operations, including safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost control, people development, continuous improvement and miscellaneous administrative functions to drive best-in-class operations across the fabrication business. The selected candidate will foster a strong, continuous improvement mindset across the workforce through effective resource utilization, process optimization and employee engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Gain an understanding and awareness of its products and processes to internalize organizational strategies and subsequently execute a “lead from the front” management approach to achieve high employee engagement.
  • Develop annual facilities objectives and then conduct routine follow-up meetings for objective calibration to ensure full support for the Facility Team; conduct quarterly status reviews of yearly objectives.
  • Provide strong hands-on leadership to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and high performance by directly managing a multi-shift, multi-department plant in Fabrication, Equipment Rental and Distribution areas to meet customer requirements, with overtime as appropriate.
  • Drive the Lean culture change.
  • Champion daily management (SQDP), data collection and data-driven decision making.
  • Ensure designated facility leadership collaborates and coordinates with all functional departments within the organization, as well as customers and suppliers, to obtain optimum production and utilization of staff, facilities and equipment.
  • Maintain KPIs to assess the effectiveness of improvement initiatives, making data-driven decisions to drive improved service levels and sustain long-term gains.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering or a closely related field required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten-plus years of experience leading and mentoring teams in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.
  • A background that includes fabrication or made-to-order products is preferred.
  • Results-driven problem solver and opportunist with a proven track record of successfully applying Lean and CI tools and principles.
  • Well-honed cross-functional management and communication skills.
  • An understanding of ISO 9001:2015 Quality principles is preferred.
