THE POSITION
The Vice President of EHS & Sustainability will lead the development, implementation and oversight of comprehensive safety programs across all divisions and locations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards, establishes and promotes a behavior-based, proactive safety culture and drives continuous improvement in workplace safety practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and guide local operational and tactical project teams, including facilities associates.
- Provide assessments and recommendations related to capital repairs and maintenance of physical plants, offices, systems and both interior and exterior facilities.
- Ensure timely and appropriate completion of maintenance tasks.
- Work with public and private organizations, including utilities, telecommunications companies, developers, real estate brokers, banks and law firms to coordinate expansion, relocation and new office openings.
- Identify required resources, hire staff and/or incorporate existing staff into work plans.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and service providers to ensure competitive pricing and quality services.
- Manage vendor performance to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and meet their facility needs.
- Lead long-range planning for facility capital investment and asset preservation.
- Ensure compliance with local and regional regulations and industry standards related to facilities management.
- Develop and execute ESG strategies that integrate sustainability into business goals and operations.
- Collect, analyze and report on ESG data (e.g., emissions, water, labor practices).
- Prepare ESG disclosures to ensure alignment with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD and regulatory requirements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive EHS, ESG and Facilities leadership experience.
- Experience working in construction, engineering or field services is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of federal, state and local safety regulations, including expertise in OSHA, EPA, safety management systems, security protocols, maintenance procedures and state-specific requirements.
- Knowledge of ESG frameworks, regulations, climate risk and carbon accounting.
- Project management experience, planning and managing complex systems with an emphasis on engineering and sustainable practices.
- Demonstrated success in implementing effective programs and driving positive culture change in complex organizations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage leadership, employees and external agencies on technical safety matters.
- Ability to handle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence organizational culture.
- Ability to travel 25-40%.
