Vice President, Operations -- Flexible

THE POSITION

The Vice President of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of production; supply chain; overall quality; health; safety and environmental (HSE) standards; and maintenance within the paint manufacturing company. This leader will ensure operational excellence, drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of safety and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and control production to ensure orders are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time and within budget.
  • Manage employee and production processes to ensure products are produced within quality standards.
  • Develop, maintain and improve metrics monitoring performance and attainment of objectives and key results (people, equipment, process).
  • Manage and drive improvements in the total supply chain, including forecasting, inventory control, procurement, shipping and receiving.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the budget for the production operations group, including capital and expense planning, resource forecasting and cost reductions, as necessary.
  • Implement and maintain Lean manufacturing concepts, such as 5S, TPM and Kanban.
  • Responsible for sites in the Midwest in addition to anticipated acquisition sites.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Fifteen-plus years of progressive manufacturing experience that includes operations, quality, supply chain, safety and EHS, including at least five years in a leadership position and two years at the VP/GM level.
  • Experience in a complex, spec-driven/batch operations paint, coatings or adhesive manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong continuous improvement mindset; solid grasp of the Lean tools and concepts; and a background implementing Lean manufacturing.
  • Experience with Power BI tools and integrating with various data sources.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop, coach and mentor at all levels, including driving accountability at the floor level.
  • Ability to balance tactical execution with strategic implementation.
